2nd half performance

REPORTED BY KEN WONG

Full Time: ODS 2 - 2 Singapore Poly 70-80(Half time: 0 - 2)
Scorers: Kim Chuan[x01], Liang Han[x01]
Man Of Match: Liang Han

--
Starting Line-Up
GK: Kumar
Def[L-R]: Dennis, Rosk, Mark Penu, Hans
Mid[L-R]: Kim Chuan, Irwin, Mark Teo, Kee Yong
Striker: Liang Han, Elango

ODS was under pressure from the kick off, and had problems dealing with crosses coming in from the wings. During one corner, the striker shook loose from his marker to head home the opener.

0-1

ODS didn't really have much attacking prowress on this day, with Liang Han being marked tightly and sometimes manhandled by the opponents. However, he did win a few freekicks from dangerous positions with his award winning dives (perhaps he has finally taken up some lessons from Osman). But the end results from the freekicks were disappointing.

Opponents proved to be too handful with their counter attacks. They sped away from their own half, and with a few passes, they were already outside ODS penalty area.
Kumar and Rosk both went for the same ball, a cross from the left, and being blinded by the sun, Kumar clashed into Rosk, and both of them fell to the ground, leaving the opponent the easiest of task by poking the ball in right in front of the goal.

0-2

Shortly after the restart, Kumar was called into action again when the same striker who had already scored 2 goals was able to break free. One on one, Kumar made a fine save to deny him his hat-trick.

ODS failed to register a shot on target in the first half.

2nd Half Line-Up
GK: Kee Yong
Def[L-R]: Darwin (GP), Rosk, Mark Penu, Chee Mun
Mid[L-R]: Kim Chuan, Aidil, Mark Teo, Ken Wong
Striker: Liang Han, Irwin

Second half saw a new spark of life in ODS players. Much of the second half was played in the opponents half, though Rosk and Mark Penu had to make a few last minute sliding tackles to keep any hopes of ODS coming back in the game.

Mark Teo and Aidil partnership in the centre of the pitch proved too good for the opponents. The opponents couldn't make any penatration through the centre midfield and had to attempt to play the long ball over to their lone striker in the second half. But the long ball was easily dealt with by our centre backs.

Ken Wong had a chance on goal when Irwin played a through ball for him to run onto. Ken Wong attempted a cheeky chip which forced the keeper into a glorious save by tipping it over the crossbar.

The opponent keeper was the key factor in ODS not being able to score. He pulled off great saves from Liang Han and also freekicks from Mark Teo.

In the last fifteen minutes, Elango, the Man-of-the-match from the previous week took out Ken Wong and put himself in again, hoping he can pull off another miracle performance.

With less than ten minutes on the clock, even our determined Mark Teo, confessed at the end of the game that he has already given up, as long as we don't concede anymore, thought all was lost.

But not Liang Han who still has a few tricks up his sleeves.
He dropped to left midfield, pushing Kim Chuan up to strike. He collected the ball from the halfway line, spotted Kim Chuan at the edge of the box. He played a ball beyond the defenders for Kim Chuan who took the ball down with ease, did a feint and curled the ball into the far post beyond the fingertips of the keeper.

1-2

ODS know we can get something back from this, with the defenders pushing up to support the attack.

Mark Penu saw Liang Han calling for the ball, and thus passed it to him, who was holding off his marker. Liang Han's first touch was beautiful, and his turn was even better. Just like what he has been practising during his warm-up, he turned his defenders and bend the ball like Beckham, NO... It's bend the ball like Liang Han. That moment was breath-taking. The keeper flew in the direction of the ball, but was not able to reach it and the ball went past him into the top corner.

2-2

Liang Han has saved us again, with his heroics and never give up attitude. Also, his shots proved to be much better than his dives.

Game ended shortly with both side failing to score anymore goals in the final dying minutes.

I must highlight that at 2 goals down during 1st half, we came back with great belief that "we shall not be defeated" & shared a common passion to play together as at team (thou i must said that only 12or 13 players were present on that Sat).

My utmost regret for questioning your integrity and commitments. I will retract back my statements and offer myself to write this report as well as 2 more reports till the end of season (for matches that i'm playing or present,of course).

ODS committee, it's bout time we take turns to write the reports and email it to Webmaster to vet and upload, how bout raising this issue this coming sat? Its a TEAM GAME after all, and we all need to assist Mr H off-the-field too.
