ORA

REPORTED BY KEN WONG
Venue: Victoria School
Final Score: 4 - 1
Scorers: Osman (x01 pen), Rezak (x03)
Match Of Match: Rezak
Yellow Cards: Wee Kiat, Rosk

Starting Line-up
GK: Kee Yong
Def (L-R): Tony, Rosk, Hans, Ken
Mid (L-R): Osman, Mark Penu, Kim Chuan, Dennis
Att: Mr Sng, Liang Han

ODS on this day, didn’t look their usual comfortable selves in the early part of the game, with players often chasing shadows and losing the ball too easily. Liang Han, on his return from his knee injury lay-off, showed a distinct lack of match fitness.

The first tactical change saw Dennis switching to right back and Ken moving up to right midfield.

After a couple of missed chances by ODS, the opponents drew first blood. The opponent striker after beating 3 defenders managed to toe-poke the ball past Kee Yong from an acute angle to give ORA the lead.

After the restart, ODS still can’t find the rhythm they wanted.

Even a cross field ball from Ken to Osman, that beat the opponent right back and set Osman on his run, wasn’t enough. On any other days, Osman would have beaten the defenders with his pace and score or assist. But not on this day as the opponents really throw their bodies in the way to block Osman.

Mr Sng then went off for Kieran.

Kieran’s fresh legs helped in the attack, especially when Liang Han seemed really tired by this stage of the game.

Despite the pressure we gave, we just couldn’t find our chance.

And we had Kee Yong to thank for pulling off some fine saves in the first half to keep the score at 1-0 at the break.

Half Time Second Half XI
Keeper: Kee Yong
Def (L-R): Hans, Mark Penu, Rosk, Elango
Mid (L-R): Osman, Wee Kiat, Mark Teo, Faizal
Att: Rezak, Kieran

ODS seems much more dangerous on the attack after the break, especially with Rezak spearheading the strikeforce on this occasion. He showed his prowess, pace and strength that was often too much to handle for the opponents.

Our equalizer came from the in-form Rezak, who outpaced the defenders before shooting past the keeper.

Our second goal came from Osman, who invited the defender to stick out his leg, after showing too much of the ball. And for ODS, we all know what will come next. Osman did a dramatic trip over the out-stretched leg and fell like as if he has been shot. But still, it was clearly a penalty.

Osman, on this occasion, took the penalty and converted it with ease. NO penalty woe for this day!!!

ODS clearly took over the game, and put themselves in the comfortable position with the third goal. Rezak rose high above the defenders to head in the ball with authority from a cross by Faizal.

With the game clearly in hand, ORA got a bit tough with their challenges, and Wee Kiat somehow was the victim for most of them.

On one occasion, when Wee Kiat was chasing the ball, the opponent elbowed him, and Wee Kiat retaliated by pushing the opponent away. But the referee only saw the shoving part, and flashed the yellow card at Wee Kiat.

Rosk then earned his yellow card due to a late challenge on the opponent.

ODS continued to pour down the attack, and Mark Teo took a long range shot from outside the penalty area, and the opponent keeper could only do as much as to parry the ball. And it fell in front of Rezak who needed no invitation to blast it into the net for his hat-trick.

Following the goal, Faizal then substituted himself out for Ken, while Tony went in for Rosk.

The rest was routine stuff for ODS as they walked off the pitch with this well fought victory.
