Marina 65 (18th August 2007)

Venue: Jurong Junior College

--
Final Score 1 : 0
Scorers: Liang Han(x01)
Man Of Match: Mark Penu
Yellow Cards: Wakil[GP](x01), Dennis(x01)

A game which was very competitive but with many bad referring decisions from the referee (who else).

Knowing that our opponents had brought along their best team for the match, our team perk ourselves for the game.

Both sides put in good challenges and some wild tackles, though luckily never bad enough to end someone's else social soccer career.

*Updated (Must Mentioned)- no wonder as i was writing, something was at the back of my mind*
Marina65 could have taken the lead after beating Kee Yong, but the goal-bound ball was cleared off the line by Ken Wong.(Refer to his comments please) Well-done!

Liang Han who had stopped scoring after he reached the lucky 8th goal, find the net this time via a pass from Osman (who claimed that this pass was defence splitting).

The 2nd half began with us leading at 1-0. The opponents began to enjoy brief spells of attacking football. There was no immediate danger though.

A substitution to replace Irwin by Hairy who was looking to play his first ever striker position since playing for this team, was instead then "forced" to play his usual left-back after Dennis insisted on going up. This had the sideline consisting of Ken Wong, Osman and Liang Han laughing to their hearts' delight.

Subsequently though, Dennis switched back with Hairy who finally had his first try at the striker position. Throughout this time, the tension was quite high as the opponent were still attacking us and we never found the important 2nd goal.

Another substitution intending to take Wakil out and to move Faizal in from the left midfield to a central midfield position instead saw Faizal substituting himself out (after playing only for 20mins - and not much running) with Osman on grounds of fatigue. Osman then moved to striker and Hairy moving back to the left-midfield position.

Ultimately, we finished the game with a 1-0 win. Main credit should be given to the defence line which all had 2 fantastic halves. Cutting out danger balls, a lot of time the opponents were forced to try shooting from a distance and mostly failed to trouble our keeper.

I should be given credits for keeping the team in the game with a goal bound off the line clearance after Kee Yong was beaten...

I read the game, and anticipated that to happen, so I smartly stayed on the goal line...

I deserve part of the clean sheet bonus!!!

haha...
