This game features both “HOME” teams for this fantastic pitch. Only thing is that the referee seems to favor the OVA more, probably because he thought that they are the only home team here.
ODS began the game aiming to ride on last week victory, and proving to Liang Han AGAIN that he is not required to win games. =P
Against a much veteran team, wingers Aidil and Ken Wong were made to seem especially fast. But however, that came at a cost too, as Aidil was often much faster then the opponents and was “caught” offside a couple of times when the actually fact was that he really wasn’t. He is just too fast, and the referee is too slow in turning.
Ken Wong, on the other side of the field, tried to cross the ball early into the danger zone, but his crosses were quite a letdown, as only a few found either Elango or Aidil on the far end, but each time, they failed to convert, or they were “caught” offside.
Mark Teo was the key man in this game, filling up the missing pieces in the jigsaw puzzle, and spreading the balls to the sides, down the centre.
Having the lion share of the possession, there soon came a point when Dennis played a ball to Ken Wong, who on the edge of the penalty area, turned and curled the ball towards goal. OVA keeper stood rooted on the spot, but the ball went inches wide of the far post, much to the disappointment of Ken Wong, who is in search of this first goal of the season.
Our breakthrough soon came, when a through ball came through the middle, and Yang Song capitalized on the opportunity, and placed the ball into the far post, and the ball went in off the post.
OVA was pretty dangerous on their attack too, having an ex-international player in their team. He forced Kumar into a few point blank saves. And that kept ODS in the lead.
Half Time Substitution
Tony Out Irwin In
Ken Wong Out Kim Chuan In
Dennis Out Gary In
Yang Song Out (to OVA) Mr Sng In
Tony Out Irwin In
Ken Wong Out Kim Chuan In
Dennis Out Gary In
Yang Song Out (to OVA) Mr Sng In
Second half started with our “star strikers” combination, Mr Sng partnering Elango. Thou many claimed that they have failed to score when both of them are playing together, that critic have been proven wrong on this occasion.
Mr Sng would score first, and celebrated his goal in style, with a cart wheel, maintaining his 100% strike rate against OVA.
Our third goal came from the in-form Elango, after some fancy footwork from Kim Chuan, taking his goal tally to 2goals in 2games. At this rate he goes, he could well be the top scorer this season.
Clearly in control of the game, the ball hardly cross into ODS’s half.
And amazingly, the referee gave Rosk a yellow card for what seemed to be a perfectly timed challenge, and Rosk clearly got the ball.
After some more substitutions, Kumar Out, Dennis In; Aidil Out, Ken Wong In, ODS got their fourth goal.
Gary flicked the ball to Ken Wong, but Ken Wong was unable to bring the ball under control and lost possession of it on the edge of OVA’s penalty area. But with his determination and his hassle, the opponent lost the ball to Mr Sng, who then calmly does what he does best, scoring goals.
With the win a certainty, Man Of the Match Mark Teo then took his bow, and came off for Aidil.
Game ended shortly after the fourth goal.
