TechWood United (4th Aug 2007)

Venue: Jurong Junior College

--
Final Score 4 : 4
Scorers: Wee Kiat(x01), Gary Ong(x02), Osman(x01)
Man Of Match: Wee Kiat

The opponent came very early for the game and look like they really have enough to form 2 teams.(each for a half and that's what they did)

From the on start, we began to show glimpse of good football. Passing comfortably and controlling both the pace and the game well.

The first goal eventually came from a cross from the right from Irwin who found one of our twin towers - Liang Han only for his to miss connecting the ball and somehow the ball fell nicely to the other tower - Gary who makes no mistake and volley the ball into the net. This is accordingly to Liang Han his 0.5 assist?! :P

A good build up and subsequently a tap in from Wee Kiat saw us going up 2 goals up.

By now, we were starting to pass the ball from left midfielder - Osman to the backline which in turn will pass, pass and pass the ball to the right midfielder - Irwin (it was rumored that Ken Wong shouted at Irwin to play "harder")

The opponents did had their fair share of few chances, which was all cleared of danger. The first half saw quite the best of Ken Wong so far who had some brilliant defending moments.

A free kick won by Liang Han outside left side of the penalty box which Osman "took" it by relaying it across to near top corner of penalty box which was met by the in-running left back hairy who connect it first time. The shot seemed goal bounded after beating the keeper but there was a slight right curl that saw the ball went just pass the far post.

A left low cross who came from Osman fell to Wee Kiat who failed to keep the shot on target with only the keeper to beat, instead the ball went quite high up.

Third goal eventually came, this time again it was again Gary(it seems that his goal-drought is getting shorter) who scored it. Irwin mentioned that he had 2 crosses that resulted in 2 goals, i wondered if this is the 2nd one.

By now, first half appeared to be over only for the opponent to have a last minute penalty kick after Mark Penu pushed the opponent from the back from a resulting throw -in. This is not the 1st time we have conceded such penalties - the other time it was from Vincent? Anyway, next time when defending such throw-ins perhaps we should just keep our hands in the air, that way confirm no pushing. :)

The opponent made no mistake in converting from the spot having sending our stand-in keeper the wrong way.
NB: Our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th choice keepers were all absent from this game :)

With our performance like this in the 1st half, and some guy mentioned it seemed to be our best line-up so far. Twin Towers in the front who harassed the opponents, centre midfield marshaled by defensive Vincent Ong and attack-minded Wee Kiat with Osman on the left flank. Defence, this time round so far were relatively comfortable in their cover for our stand-in keeper.

The 2nd half saw couple of changes, right midfielder, left back and one striker were changed to Guest Player (Daniel), Guest Player(dun know name) and Elango respectively.

All appear fine until somehow the 2nd chance that fell to the opponents and they converted it just like that and the game now was 3-2.

Subsequently Ken Wong was taken out and replaced by Kiran. There was subsequently changes to the backline then, having Rosk moved out to the right and appearing lost most part of the 2nd half often making the mistake of either going up too deep or leaving his marker too free… And Mark Penu moving to the stopper position and Kiran our last man.

Our deepest fear came finally when the opponent equalized with their third chance and third goal.

With 6 minutes left to go before the final whistle, Osman score with a right-footed curler just outside the penalty box and we were once again-up 4-3.

The game should be our victory had it not 2minutes from the whistle a misunderstanding between Kiran and our stand-in keeper (Hanze?) which resulted in their 4th goal.

The game ended up in a draw which was quite a come-back from the opponent but we had only ourselves to blame for the not-so-good 2nd half performance.

PS. The opponents keep shouting for pushing while they were very much guilty in their own way of play pushing - which is kind of disappointing. If you wanna play little little things other then soccer, then don't complain.
