A match that look quite set to be a competitive game. This match we missed our regular central backs and were replaced by Mark Teo and Vincent Ong. Both lived up to the expectation, especially Mark Teo who covered the danger balls pretty well.
Onset of the match, we knew we had to press our opponent to prevent them from playing their game. This which i feel most would agree with me was that we did pretty well throughout the game, well maybe not in the first 10 minutes or so, but we fitted in pretty comfortably soon.
There was not much danger in front of our goal, although a few good shots were taken by our opponent, it was equally matched by Kee Yong who had not much problem with those shots.
Our 1st goal from Osman, came as a result of a pass from Elango to Wee Kiat who fed the ball nicely to Osman (between 2 players) and he made no mistake in converting it.
A ball won within our own left half, saw some neat passes on the left side had Kim Chuan receiving the final ball from Osman in the opponent other half. A good cross from him went towards Elango, who had his first attempt missed. Somehow the opponent GK failed to catch the ball and the ball bounce up again and Elango headed it with erm ..his head of course. However at this point, it did appear somewhat he did not go where the ball was headed to, when he realised that it was into the net, he celebrated it quite excitedly :) Elango also had some similarities to Gary Ong, they have not been scoring quite as regularly.
At the start of the 2nd half, the score remained at 2-0. We knew we had to get the 3rd goal to secure this game. A few good runs down the left by Kim Chuan saw him crossing the balls into the penalty box but they were not too dangerous.
A good run from Liang Han towards (think must put this in, Gary claims that in this move that he acts as the dummy in pulling the defence away) opponent goal followed by a good through ball (between opponent's leg) to Sng who first touch it to Osman on his left who subsequently released the ball to Sng who make no mistake in getting the important 3rd goal. Up we are 3-0 up and somewhat we can feel the opponents morale going down.
A free kick to our opponent on our right, saw a floating ball into our danger area, the man should have been marked by Ken Wong but he was caught asking for offside, when offside not given, he was still standing there, it quite bewildering isn't it? Dun ask for offside, play to whistle. I heard from reliable source that Ken Wong was given a earful from our keeper - Kee Yong.
*Updated*
Score stood at 3-1 then, somehow it gave the opponent a slight hope - briefly. A good through pass from Anis to Osman saw him adding his 2nd goal and team's 4th.
Before long, there was a good cross from Ken Wong!! from the right to Osman, which saw him through and trying to round the keeper but failed to put the ball into the net amongst the numerous defenders around him. Somehow the ball fell to Hairy, who attempted a shot from outside the box - connection was very nice but not the direction unless the goal post is at the corner flag hahahahaa *literally the man himself was laughing at himself after he felt the good connection with the ball only to see the direction wayward.
I would really hope that we would use this game as our future reference to improve our game.
1) We took most of our chances
2) We defended well AS A TEAM
3) We press our opponent AS A TEAM - credits goes from the strikers all the way to the last man.
PS: This is the 1st time, i ever feel my whole jersey all wet...and it feels good
